The heartbeat of the CNG and NGV industry lies in Jakarta. Over the years, Indonesia has steadily turned to greener CNG-Fuelled vehicles, especially for the public transportation sector to drive their transportation needs.
In 2008, the theme of fuelling a cleaner Indonesia comes to mind, with the NGV and CNG world gather in Jakarta for the first time. The industry learnt of Indonesia’s journey and many good contacts were made, in addition to new business opportunities and projects. As Indonesia has ample source of natural gas, it is inevitable that CNG and NGV will kick off effectively. Working together with the government of Indonesia to implement viable CNG/NGV projects remains critical. And progress was made.
2009 was a challenging year as the industry is facing with low fuel price, which makes CNG and NGV less attractive. However, the industry stands strong and many players – new and existing – committed themselves to infrastructure development and pushing ahead with new opportunities despite the setback. The event brought local stakeholders from various provincial cities, namely Palembang and Bogor to collectively implement and adopt CNG usage and NGV within their provinces.
The industry has been tethering on the edge for the last couple of years and 2010 will be the year where it all comes together!
