Govt awards four firms with CBM contracts for US$20m of investment
The Indonesian government has awarded four coal-bead methane (CBM) development contracts in Kalimantan to a group of mining companies requiring a total investment of at least US$20 million during the next three years.
Evita H. Legowo, Director General for Oil and Gas said: the government would open tenders for several other CBM blocks in January next year.
"CBM blocks have always attracted many investors."
The government will get on average 55 percent of the revenue generated by the sale of gas produced from those blocks," Evita H. Legowo.
612 Trillion Cubic Feet
That is the currently estimated Coal Bed Methane reserves in Indonesia and India alone. Indonesia has the world’s second largest CBM reserves. India, though it has only about half of the Indonesian reserves, has proceeded to develop the industry and is now expected to generate massive returns for investors.
US$5 billion
That is how much this natural gas would be worth. This is how much you will earn if you were to develop CBM and sell the gas. What more from the potential power generation using the gas?
Partnerships are key to making this estimated US$5 billion a reality. All necessary for moving forward are:
- Certainty in regulation
- Financing and structuring of CBM ventures
- Specialised technical know-how for exploration and production
Gas Supply Security at a Stable Price
This is what gas users get from diversifying their gas supplies. CBM is expected to be the best way to achieve this.
Not Just Soundbites
Build actual projects at Asia CBM Forum 2009. Regulators, operators and service providers will all be there to know who are SERIOUS about making CBM a reality and who they should partner with to get their share of US$5 billion.
Learn about:
- Regulations and policies in Asian countries
- Legal and financial considerations for CBM commercialisation
- Reserves evaluation, extraction techniques and upstream technology
- Gas transport and utilisation suitable for Asian infrastructure levels
- Specific CBM sites and areas for development
